    Quick Overview

    • On March 25, DraftKings debuted DK Replay in Oregon, enabling bettors to place wagers on archived Major League Baseball at-bats via the Sportsbook application.
    • Player identities remain hidden with bronze, silver, or gold designations determined by authentic performance metrics including batting average and earned run average.
    • Bettors place wagers during a timed interval on whether the upcoming pitch results in a ball, strike, or contact, with archived outcomes revealing results.
    • This offering aligns with DraftKings’ comprehensive “Super App” vision that integrates sports wagering, casino entertainment, prediction markets, and lottery services.
    • Expansion to additional jurisdictions remains under consideration, contingent upon regulatory interpretation of historical wagering products.

DraftKings has made its debut in the historical wagering sector with DK Replay, an innovative offering that enables participants to place bets on archived Major League Baseball plate appearances.

Following authorization from the Oregon Lottery, the platform became operational on March 25. Users can access it directly through the DraftKings Sportsbook application.

According to DraftKings, Oregon regulators have categorized DK Replay as a sports betting product. The organization indicated plans to introduce the platform in additional markets once regulatory clearances are secured.

The system operates by displaying anonymized confrontations between pitchers and batters. Participants receive bronze, silver, or gold classifications derived from critical performance metrics from the actual contest.

These performance indicators encompass batting average, slugging percentage, earned run average, and strikeout rate per nine innings. These classifications enable bettors to evaluate matchups prior to committing their wagers.

Participants must submit their predictions within a timed countdown, selecting whether the forthcoming pitch will be classified as a ball, strike, or result in contact. Following the countdown expiration, an animated pitch sequence displays the archived result.

Should a participant fail to submit a wager before the countdown concludes, complete matchup information becomes visible. This revelation includes the contest date, pitcher identity, batter identity, and a summary of the actual plate appearance.

The archive contains hundreds of thousands of documented plate appearances. This extensive library ensures continuous operation independent of concurrent live sporting events.

Integration with DraftKings’ Super App Strategy

DK Replay represents a component of DraftKings’ initiative to develop a comprehensive “Super App” merging online sports wagering, prediction markets, casino entertainment, and lottery offerings within a unified interface.

The organization recently notified users that its DK Horse application will merge into the primary platform. This consolidation aims to maintain user participation across diverse wagering categories without platform switching.

According to Corey Gottlieb, Chief Product Officer at DraftKings, this innovation enables customers to experience their preferred sports throughout every season.

DraftKings isn’t pioneering the use of archived data for wagering products. Hard Rock Bet introduced a similar concept in Florida during October 2025, featuring wagers on previous NASCAR competitions.

Hard Rock’s iteration employs a casino-inspired framework incorporating spinning reels and thematic visual elements. Winnings correlate with prediction accuracy regarding top driver finishing positions.

Distinguishing Features Between DK Replay and Hard Rock’s Offering

These platforms employ distinct methodologies. DK Replay centers on micro-betting opportunities connected to individual pitches, engineered to replicate the live sports wagering experience.

Hard Rock’s solution resembles slot machine mechanics constructed upon racing statistics. It emphasizes rapid-cycle gameplay rather than replicating authentic sports environments.

The emergence of historical wagering platforms has generated fresh regulatory considerations. Since results are predetermined but disclosed only after wager placement, these products occupy an ambiguous position between conventional sports betting and casino-style gaming.

Certain participants have questioned Hard Rock’s outcome determination methodology, particularly regarding the absence of random number generators standard in casino applications.

Both DK Replay and Hard Rock’s platform launched within single-operator jurisdictions where exclusive licensed platforms manage online sports wagering. This framework potentially provides enhanced oversight for experimental format testing.

DraftKings confirmed that geographic expansion beyond Oregon hinges upon regulatory interpretation and classification of historical betting platforms across different states.
