    Key Highlights

    • On March 25, DraftKings unveiled DK Replay in Oregon, enabling bettors to place wagers on archived Major League Baseball at-bats via its sportsbook application.
    • Matchups appear without player names, featuring bronze, silver, or gold ratings derived from authentic performance metrics such as batting average and earned run average.
    • Bettors place wagers during a timed interval, predicting if the upcoming pitch results in a ball, strike, or contact, with archived outcomes deciding winners.
    • This offering aligns with DraftKings’ comprehensive “Super App” vision, merging sports wagering, casino entertainment, prediction platforms, and lottery services into a unified interface.
    • While DraftKings considers multi-state expansion, availability hinges on individual regulatory interpretations of historical wagering mechanics.

DraftKings has made its entrance into the historical wagering market by unveiling DK Replay, a platform enabling customers to place bets on previously played Major League Baseball at-bats.

The offering became operational on March 25 in Oregon following authorization from the Oregon Lottery. Access is provided exclusively through the DraftKings Sportsbook mobile application.

DraftKings confirmed that DK Replay is classified as sports betting in Oregon. The operator indicated it is evaluating opportunities to introduce the platform in additional jurisdictions, subject to regulatory clearance.

The mechanism presents bettors with de-identified pitcher-batter confrontations. Each participant receives a bronze, silver, or gold designation determined by critical performance indicators from the actual contest.

These indicators encompass batting average, slugging percentage, earned run average, and strikeout rate per nine innings. The rating system assists bettors in evaluating matchup dynamics prior to committing funds.

Participants then utilize a countdown timer to predict whether the forthcoming pitch becomes a ball, strike, or results in contact. Once the timer concludes, an animated pitch sequence displays the archived outcome.

When bettors fail to submit wagers before expiration, complete matchup information becomes visible. This disclosure includes the game date, pitcher identity, batter name, and a summary of the original at-bat sequence.

The database encompasses hundreds of thousands of archived plate appearances. This extensive collection enables continuous operation independent of current live sporting events.

Integration with DraftKings’ Comprehensive App Strategy

DK Replay represents another component of DraftKings’ strategic movement toward a “Super App” framework that consolidates online sports wagering, prediction markets, casino offerings, and lottery products within a single ecosystem.

The organization recently informed its customer base that the DK Horse application will merge into the primary platform. This consolidation aims to maintain user engagement across diverse wagering categories without requiring platform transitions.

Corey Gottlieb, serving as DraftKings’ Chief Product Officer, stated the offering enables customers to experience their preferred sports throughout the calendar year.

DraftKings isn’t pioneering the use of archived data for wagering platforms. During October 2025, Hard Rock Bet introduced a Florida product allowing bettors to wager on concluded NASCAR competitions.

Hard Rock’s iteration employs a casino-inspired structure featuring rotating reels and thematic visual elements. Winnings correlate with prediction accuracy regarding top driver placement outcomes.

Distinguishing Features Between DK Replay and Hard Rock’s Approach

These two platforms adopt contrasting methodologies. DK Replay centers on micro-wagering opportunities connected to singular pitches, engineered to replicate live sports wagering experiences.

Hard Rock’s platform operates more similarly to slot machine mechanics layered over racing information. It emphasizes rapid-cycle engagement rather than recreating live sporting atmospheres.

The emergence of historical wagering platforms has generated fresh regulatory considerations. Since results are predetermined yet concealed until after wager placement, these products occupy ambiguous territory between conventional sports wagering and casino-style gaming.

Some participants have questioned Hard Rock’s outcome determination methodology, particularly regarding the absence of random number generation systems standard in casino gaming.

Both DK Replay and Hard Rock’s platform debuted in exclusive operator jurisdictions where a single licensed entity manages online sports wagering. This framework potentially provides more regulated conditions for experimental format testing.

DraftKings stated that geographic expansion beyond Oregon remains contingent upon regulatory interpretation and classification approaches to historical wagering products across different states.
