The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau has disclosed that Macau’s casino industry generated MOP22.61 billion in gross gaming receipts throughout March 2026, translating to approximately $2.80 billion.
This figure reflects a 15% uplift when compared to the corresponding month in 2025. Additionally, it demonstrates a 9.6% sequential improvement over February’s MOP20.63 billion tally.
With March’s contribution, the region’s aggregate first-quarter 2026 gaming revenue reached MOP65.87 billion. This equates to roughly $8.1 billion across the opening three-month period.
The quarterly performance shows a 14.3% advancement over the equivalent timeframe in 2025. Growth accelerated consistently throughout each successive month of the period.
Both January and February had established positive momentum ahead of March. The final month of Q1 reinforced what analysts were already observing as strengthening conditions in Macau’s casino landscape.
High-Value Baccarat Segment Fuels Growth
Citigroup published its regular tracking report on premium baccarat activity concurrent with the official March statistics. The financial institution noted an expansion in the volume of high-value participants compared to March 2025.
The survey also documented that mean bet amounts among premium mass customers had risen on an annual comparison basis. This demographic segment typically exerts considerable influence on aggregate monthly performance.
Premium mass play occupies the middle tier between general mass market gaming and VIP junket operations. This category has emerged as increasingly significant for Macau’s casino operators over recent years.
While the government’s official release did not segment revenue by player category, Citigroup’s independent tracking provided complementary evidence of strengthening activity within the premium mass channel.
The convergence of official bureau statistics and private sector monitoring indicates that premium mass participation contributed substantially to March’s gains in both annual and month-to-month metrics.
First Quarter Trajectory Points to Sustained Recovery
March’s 15% annual increase represented the sharpest year-over-year expansion among the quarter’s three months. This accelerating pattern provides a solid foundation as the market enters the second quarter of 2026.
Revenue progressed sequentially throughout the period. Each successive month exceeded the previous one, indicating sustained momentum rather than isolated volatility.
Macau’s gaming sector has maintained recovery momentum since travel and operational restrictions were relaxed in early 2023. The territory has been progressively narrowing the distance to pre-pandemic revenue benchmarks.
The bureau’s announcement contained no forward guidance or projections. However, the consistent quarterly growth trajectory suggests the recovery framework remains structurally sound.
The 14.3% first-quarter gain represents the latest in an extended series of positive annual comparisons for the region. All six of Macau’s licensed casino operators have documented improving operating conditions in their most recent financial disclosures.
According to the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau, March 2026 represented the quarter’s peak performance month, delivering $2.80 billion in gross gaming revenue with a 15% year-over-year advancement.
